Hearthstone brings in $20 million every month
The hit digital card game for PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad, Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, is doing incredibly well for the Californian games house, bringing in a reported $20 million every month.
“Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft managed to disrupt the category in the same way World of WarCraft transformed massively-multiplayer online games (MMOs),” says SuperData, whose latest report also stated that Hearthstone has a whopping nine million players on mobile (both iOS and Android), and only eight million players on PC.
“Blizzard’s first digital card game has deep mechanics, but it is more accessible and streamlined than long-running games like Magic: The Gathering. Hearthstonenow dominates the genre and earns around $20 million monthly.
“History repeats itself here: In 2004, World of WarCraft became the MMO to beat thanks to a combination of the popular WarCraft IP and gameplay that was more accessible than existing MMOs.”
